He was named for his father, but he didn’t believe what his father taught. He told people that the Church wasn’t true. It was His mortal nature that enabled Him to suffer in Gethsemane, and to endure death at Golgotha. But Alma also taught that Christ’s mortal experience itself—His “go [ing] forth Alma 36 exhibits a strong degree of balance. The first half of the structure contains 52.4% of the words, and the second half, 47.6%. Even minor words like “behold” (six times in each half) and “my” (eighteen times in the first half and seventeen in the second) occur equally in the two halves. Return. Alma 34:29 to be charitable. To be charitable is different than to have charity. Often, they go together, but their definitions differ considerably. To be charitable, is to donate to charity, to visit the sick, impart of your substance, etc. To have charity (the pure love of Christ) is to have something much greater. Alma 26. Alma 26. Chapter 26.
